Merrimans' Playhouse Jazz Performance Series presents The Larry Brown Group!
Young, Fiery, and Swingin are words associate with the Chicago based Larry Brown Group. This ensemble features bassist Runere Brooks, pianist Collin Clauson, with drummer Alfonzo Jones, and their band leader, Larry Brown Jr., on guitar, who has been paving his way to success as a musician, performer, educator. His album entitled There Can Only Be One is comprised of music that is fresh, innovative and captures the hearts of all music lovers, Browns mission is to present world-class performances that entertain and inspire.
The players in this band have individually played with the elite in jazz from Orbert Davis to Wynton Marsalis. Formed in 2009 the group has performed throughout the Midwest (Andys Jazz Club Chicago, Trios Jazz Club South Bend, Sheldon Concert Hall St. Louis) as well as abroad (BeatNIQ Alberta, Canada).
The group's goal is to move progressively forward by deepening their roots in tradition while reaching for new horizons.
