Tellus Jokes: Alex Grubard w/ Erin Harkes
Joke-teller Alex Grubard grew up in Massachusetts, began his career in New York City and is currently a student enrolled at Temple University in Philadelphia. With his memorable catchphrases, sharp joke technique and absurd character Alex Grubard is a popular and likeable stand-up act. At the start of 2014 Alex Grubard was named runner-up for both Best Stand-Up Comedian and Best Stand-Up Bit at the 2014 Wit Out Awards in Philadelphia. In 2013 Alex was the winner of LOL at The Grand Opera in Wilmington, Delaware, performed stand-up on mtvUs College Quickes, and co-wrote the sketch show One Hit Wonder which debuted in the 2013 Live Arts & Philly Fringe. 2012 began with Grubard being named one of Phillys Comics to Watch in 2012, Top Philly Comedians of 2011 and Top 10 Philly Comedians. He was a fan favorite during the 2012 Cape Fear Comedy Festival, the 2nd F. Harold Comedy Festival, 2012 Live Arts & Philly Fringe and 2011 1st Person Arts Festival. For the second year in a row Alex made it onto Temple Univeristy teams starting line-up for the Rooftop National College Comedy Competition sponsored by TBS. In 2010 Alex made it into the Final 4 of Comix Comedy Clubs March Comedy Madness. For one week in September of 2010 Alexs joke about being a college student with a learning disability was Time Out NYs Joke of the Week. Yeah, of the WEEK. His acting has been seen on Comedy Centrals Web Shows and his blogging read on The NY Examiner, CampusPhilly and 100inNYC.He has performed at festivals including the 2013 North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, the 2012 Cape Fear Comedy Festival and the 2011 Live Arts and Philly Fringe. Grubard is one of the best young stand-up comics on the East Coast. And his grades are okay.
Erin Harkes has only been on the comedy circuit for four years, but her dry wit and sarcasm coupled with audience rapport has made her very successful in a short amount of time. Shes won local contests and performed all over New York State and beyond. In 2014 and 2015 she was voted Albanys Best Local Comedian by Metroland. (local arts and entertainment magazine)
She performs at Gotham Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club and The Stand in NYC, the Comedy Works in Albany, Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut, Funny Bone in Syracuse, Albany and Hartford and SheDot Comedy Festival in Toronto (three years running). She also produces her own shows on a monthly basis featuring local and nationally touring comedians.
She finds that her musical career (that spans well over a decade) has prepared her for any and all stage settings and she performs with the ease and comfort of a comedic veteran.
