WHAT IS AU FUNDRAISING FOR?
- An upcoming evening-length Au Collective show in 2017
- Free dance/movement workshops (in tandem with our show) for youth who will be the next generation of artists of color, queer artists, and women artists and allies
- To ensure that we sell tickets at an affordable price accessible to all communities
- Rehearsal space for upcoming performances including SAM Remix and a new commission from Vashon Center for the Arts
- Administrative and promotional needs such as artist insurance, photography, pay for collaborating artists
WHO ARE WE?
We are dance artists of color, women artists, and queer artists. We create dance that celebrates the voices and visions of our artistic family. Together, we are realizing the world we want to live in.
By bringing people of color, women, queer artists and allies on stage, we create multi-faceted dance art accessible to audiences regardless of age, race, or class. In doing so, we empower our dancers' holistic development while making dance accessible to marginalized communities and families and friends through interactive workshops, open rehearsals, and affordable performances.
