Acclarion
Since 2003 the husband and wife team of accordionist David Carovillano and clarinetist Rebecca Sajo-Carovillano have created a luscious, irresistible blend with their instruments and delighted audiences with their virtuosic flare and entertaining banter. I have never heard such fresh and exciting performances of my favourite classical pieces. This duo has a passion for their music and each other that weve missed from other concerts. Watch out for them! (Stanley Solomon, former principal violist of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, President Friends of the Toronto Symphony)
David and Becky met at the University of Toronto and fell in love practicing together for their Master of Music recitals. (The juicy details are saved for the concert). Upon graduation, these classically trained musicians traded the world of lengthy avant-garde compositions for classical crossover: short works featuring scintillating harmonies, sweeping melodies and lively rhythms that engage and entertain audiences. Acclarion takes the perceived elitism out of classical music and makes it more accessible. You cant compare these performers to anyone. They are in a class by themselves. (Ben Nind, Artistic Director Northern Arts & Culture Center, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories)
Some things go well together. A wink and a smile. Peanut butter and chocolate. Clarinet and the classical accordion, wrote Catherine Hernandez from The National Post in 2006, when Becky and David tied the knot in a concert-wedding featuring special guest performers, harpist, Erica Goodman, and pianist, Angela Park. By then Acclarion was already making waves in the world of classical music(Fazila Khan, host Dufferin-Peel living, Rogers Television)performing for Barries Colours of Music Festival, Carrefour Mondiale International Accordion Festival in Montmagny, Quebec, and the Glenn Gould Studio as featured artists for CBCs Music Around Us hosted by Keith Horner. They had released their self-titled debut CD in 2004 which was regularly featured on CBC radios Disc Drive, the Vinyl Café, Studio Sparks, and Americas NPR, and sold around the world on iTunes.
Recently Acclarion premiered Davids Bach to the Future for accordion, clarinet, and piano trio for Chamber Music at the Scarab Club in Detroit and performed to an enthusiastic audience at the Yukon Art Centre for Whitehorse Concerts. Acclarions third CD Shattered Expectations, released in September 2015, showcases phenomenal musicianship as they perform with passion, elegance, wit and stylistic acuity.
