School of Rock Portland performs: History of Shoegaze
Shoegaze is a genre that emerged from alternative rock in the United Kingdom in the 1980s. It's called Shoegaze because bands in this genre were known for standing still and appearing detached while they played with lots of effects pedals, created lots of distorted noise and played washed out "wall of sound" alt / rock / pop songs. On this show we will focus on British Shoegaze bands who defined the genre such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Lush, Ride, Pale Saints, Swervedriver, Chapterhouse and more. If you like noise, dream pop, playing hard and creating textures with music, this show is for you!!!
