Laura Dreyer
New York City based saxophonist, flutist, and composer Laura Dreyer, will perform an evening of cutting edge Brazilian jazz featuring an all-star band of Bay Area based musicians. She will perform original compositions, as well as Brazilian jazz standards, and will be backed up by reknowned pianist and composer Marcos Silva on piano. Ami Molinelli-Hart on percussion, Fred Randolph on bass, and Phil Thompson on drums.
In addition to having three CDs as a leader, Laura is featured on Brazilian pianist Dom Salvador's newest release, The Art of Samba Jazz, which received the 2012 Premio da Musica Brasileira award for Best Instrumental CD. She has performed multiple times in Brazil with some of Rio de Janeiro's top musicians, and her newest release, Vida. Arte. Amor., was recorded in Rio de Janeiro this past summer. Vida. Arte. Amor. will be released by Mayimba Music in April 2014. Dreyer also performs at many festivals which have included The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival, The Syracuse Jazz Festival. The Hartford Jazz Festival, and regularly appears at many of New York City's top jazz venues.
