BUCKLEY Born a Northerner with a Texas soul, multi-genre singer/songwriter Josh Buckley is set to release his long-awaited (sophomore?) solo album, Blind Side of the Heart on September 4th.
First premeiring his talents in Austin in (2011) fronting the critically acclaimed alt-country band Gilded Splinters, Buckley took the local music scene by storm. Playing a multitude of venues, events, and showcases, Buckley has built a solid and dedicated local fan base in a span of only a few short years.
Buckley's upcoming exposé reveals the true merit of his abilities, serving up elements of alt-country and old-time rock-and-roll with a side of blues and garnished with soul. His single, Sara, a soul-baring yet teeth-clenching tune featured on KUT's Austin Music Minute, is only a hint of what Blind Side of the Heart has to offer.
From Boston to Austin,Buckley's Blind Side of the Heart is set to hit the ground running with his radio-ready tunes.
THE SILKS The Silks are a rock and roll band out of Providence, Rhode Island. You could say The Silks are the rock and roll band from Providence, but then you wouldnt exactly be asking the cool kids. Youd need to dig a bit deeper than trends. The Silks exist outside of The Hips bearded rat race.
The sound is classic power trio of the blues-based variety. You know, The Devils music. Youve got guitar pyrotechnics galore from frontman Tyler-James Kelly. Chicken-pickin or taking a soaring lead break, its quickly apparent Kellys on a wholenother level. It makes you wonder just when did he get his first real six-string. Then theres the voice. Ballsy, bluesy, however you want to describe it, it just sounds like ripping a telephone book in half and feels like scratching a really good itch. The rhythm section of Sam Jodrey on drums and Jonas Parmelee on the bass guitar chug-chugs and chop-chop-chops along. Fast songs, slow songs, it doesnt matter. Its always all about the dance floor. The dance floor reciprocates.
LAURENCE SCUDDER Trained as a classical player Laurence toured with the Ryan Montbleau Band covering the United States, USVI and parts of Canada. They averaged 200 shows per year, playing venues from dive bars and coffee shops to festivals and old theaters. Amidst their ambitious touring, the band recorded three studio albums during this time. In 2010 they were recruited to both open for and back Martin Sexton for his entire Sugarcoating tour, playing beautiful venues and notable festivals such as The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Bonnaroo, as well as opening several shows for the Dave Matthews Band. Laurence shifted his life from the road back to Somerville, MA in early 2011. Currently, he plays with local acts Brothers McCann, Dietrich Strause, Danielle Miraglia, Ryan Fitzsimmons, Erik White, The Blue Ribbons, Session Americana, Samantha Farrell and more. Although an adept sideman, Laurence is now writing his own material which he performs with his band Spotted Tiger. You can find him most nights gigging around Boston.
