Awesome Mix Vol. 3, the radical inclusion celebration
There are a lot of things going on here:
Last year in October we held "Never Never Land: the radical full self expression ball." Over 300 people came, the serious skills of our DJs kept us rocking till 3am, and we raised money for a really good cause!
Well, we're back at it again. Same bat time (mid October); not the same bat place. See details here and on the facebook page.
Some background info:
As the first scene in Guardians of the Galaxy tells us, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord already has had Awesome Mix vol. 1 for quite some time. His mother Meredith gives him Awesome Mix Vol. 2 on her deathbed. The tape figures in the plot, but goes unplayed until Ronan is defeated at the battle of Xandar. We don't have a lot of details about its playlist. ...which is why we must create our own Vol. 3!
Hm. 1. The late eighties. 2. A mix tape worth dying for. 3. A Marvel universe where the raccoon is the hero. Sounds like the ingredients for a killer costume/dance party but we have two more causes for celebration:
A lot of the people that showed up last year and that will show up this year are so called Burners, people who have gone to Burning Man at least once. Burners may or may not value Burning Man's 10 Principles, but this event is borrowing one of those principles, 4. 'Radical Inclusion:'
Anyone may join us. We welcome newcomers. Come one and come all. No participation prerequisites exist. Come as you are. Bring a friend. We celebrate inclusion and invite you to party with us and support a good cause.
Lastly, consider 5. 'truly free movement' possibly like you've never experienced before. An idea that promotes all kinds of dance as an generic elixir for life and for the possibilities it unlocks.
1-2-3-4-5. You'll see us lauding all five elements on the evening of October 15 and maybe a few others to boot. Save the date. Start thinking about your groovy, retro, spacey, costumes. And be prepared to party like it's 1989.
