JAZZ IT UP @ TONY'S CAFE with THE ERIC MINTEL QUARTET in Concert
Come celebrate life with acclaimed jazz music artists in concert on the last Wednesday of each month at the popular Jazz It Up @ Tony's Cafe Concert & Dinner Experience in quaint downtown Cranford, NJ. The event is hosted by Tony's Cafe, conveniently located at 21 Union Avenue North and presented in association with the SunRex Entertainment Group. The experience includes a choice of a delicious and authentic Italian cuisine entree, dessert and a beverage. BYO is welcome.. The authentic cuisine at this long established and wonderfully intimate venue, rated a top best restaurant by Menu Magazine, is a perfect compliment to the Jazz It Up concert experience. The concert series continues on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 7pm with the acclaimed in-demand Jazz sounds of The Eric Mintel Quartet in concert that promises to captivate the audience.
Eric Mintel and The Eric Mintel Quartet have cultivated one of the most distinctive styles of jazz, combining an exciting and lyrical sense with a powerful and dramatic musical force. Going beyond the traditional and standard techniques of American jazz, this quartet is changing the landscape of jazz and broadening its audience. A performance at the White House by special request of former President Bill Clinton, over 10 performances at the Kennedy Center, collaborations with symphony orchestras and choral groups, outreach to students in elementary schools, performances at jazz festivals, cultural centers and concert halls throughout the country and educating the public on the importance of jazz music in our culture. Energetic, lyrical, swinging and always entertaining, pianist and composer, Eric Mintel's music touches the soul. Eric Mintel is the leader of one of the finest straight ahead jazz quartet's in the country today, the Eric Mintel Quartet. The public has hailed Eric's passionate piano style, his attention to melody, his catchy original compositions and his use of classical elements within a performance. The Eric Mintel Quartet are a professional touring jazz unit consisting of Eric Mintel on piano, Nelson Hill on alto sax, Jack Hegyi on bass and Dave Mohn on drums.
Eric's fourth CD release, Hopscotch, made it into the top 100 jazz tracks of 2002 at WRTI 90.1 FM in Philadelphia. Jazz icon, Dave Brubeck wrote the liner notes to the CD. WRTI 90.1 FM in Philadelphia, WBGO 88.3 in Newark, NJ and many other jazz stations across the country are playing the Eric Mintel Quartet to positive reaction by the listening public.
The Eric Mintel Quartet's noted performances include: the White House, the Kennedy Center, Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz, XM Satellite Radio, QVC Television Network, JVC Jazz Festival, Savannah Jazz Festival, PIX11 Morning News New York City, Hartford Jazz Festival, Fox Woods Casino, NBC Television Morning show "10", The Tabernacle Concert Hall on Martha's Vineyard and many other prestigious venues across the country.
The Eric Mintel Quartet has a been featured in Down Beat Magazine, Jazz Times Magazine and recently in the Wall Street Journal. They are steadily on the rise as a voice for a new jazz age and consistently deliver thrilling performances and in doing so, have endeared them to a new generation of jazz fans.
