Do you love the bad boys (and girls) of fiction? Do you suspect your character might be an antiherobut youre not sure what that means? In this craft-oriented lecture, well use free-writing exercises, step-by-step tips and movie clips to delve into what made your character who he/she is today, and how to help him/her along an authentic journey towards redemption. Featured antiheroes will include: Ronan Lynch from "The Raven Cycle" by Maggie Stiefvater, Lisbeth Salander from "The Millennium Trilogy" by Stieg Larsson and Gilly Hopkins from "The Great Gilly Hopkins." (Source reading is optional.)
About the Instructor: Emily Young is a St Pete native who didn't see snow till she was 24. By day she works at a police academy library and freelances for the Tampa Bay Times, and by night she writes a speculative fiction novel. She graduated from Vermont College of Fine Arts with an MFA in creative writing in July 2016. Ask her about the time she almost got eaten by a badger.
