Soirée at the Gables
Redlands Opera Theatre opens its 2016/7 season with music, food and fun in a beautiful setting for its fund-raising gala, Soirée at the Gables, on Sept. 17, 2016.
Redlands Opera Theatres Board of Directors, Artistic Director Tiana Dye and Music Director Christa Stevens will showcase selections from their upcoming 2016/17 season with opera arias and ensembles featuring beloved pieces from treasured operas by Bizet, Puccini and more. Dye and Stevens, both sopranos, will be joined by Mezzo Soprano Victoria Fox and Tenors David Newton and Marco Antonio Lozano.
The gala will be held at the Mission Gables Bowl House, 168 S. Eureka St., Redlands, CA 92373, opening at 4 p.m. with program beginning at 4:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a wine-and-hors d'oeuvres reception, a silent auction, opportunity drawing and performances.
Tickets are $45 each, $80 for a couple, and include one drink voucher per person. All proceeds from the event benefit Redlands Opera Theatre. To purchase tickets, visit www.redlandsoperatheatre.com.
Special guest artist is teen soprano Golda Berkman, 17, who will perform the role of Lauretta in Puccinis Gianni Schicchi in November. She has achieved several remarkable accomplishments for her age, with Carnegie Hall and Walt Disney Concert Hall debuts already under her belt. She has performed the beloved Brindisi duet Libiamo ne lieti calici from La Traviata with superstar tenor Vittorio Grigolo at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, and her performance of Tatyanas Letter Scene from Tchaikovskys Eugene Onegin with the Dream Orchestra has surpassed 11,000 views on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_TOKFZDmSI). At 16, Golda was the one of the youngest grand prize finalists in classical voice in the Music Centers prestigious Spotlight Award competition.
Beautiful, historic Mission Gables Bowl House was built in 1898. The 7,500-square-foot home overlooks the Redlands Bowl and will be the venue for the Redlands Opera Theatres concert series, which includes Trial By H.M.S. Pirakado: An Original Gilbert & Sullivan Review in February 2016.
Serving Redlands, the County of San Bernardino and the Inland Empire, the non-profit Redlands Opera Theatres mission is to educate and entertain by providing high quality classical music featuring talented musicians of the area through cultural, educational, and community activities.
