Sarah Shook & the Disarmers House Concert
Country music with a punk rock soul is how best to describe Sarah Shook & The Disarmers. Hailing from Chapel Hill, NC, they are a country band with a sneer, a bite, and no apologies. Shook's original songs take on the usual country spin on shitty relationships, bad decisions, and excessive alcohol consumption for damn good reasons. On their debut album called Sidelong, Songs with self-explanatory self-deprecation ("F*ck Up") tangled in with a portrayal of a doomed relationship dripping with sarcasm ("The Nail") are bastioned by the subtleties of a bar patron considering taking a chance on a stranger as on the title track. Nothing is better than an October Sunday afternoon show at Roots Hoot, and especially with Sarah Shook & the Disarmers in the house. Get your asses here! Doors are at 4 pm and show time at 4:30. This is a BYOB/potluck show which means terrific food to go with an early October afternoon of great music. Sounds like win-win to us.
