The Rizdales House Concert
We kick off the 2016-17 Roots Hoot House Concerts season with The Rizdales from Canada. Lead by the husband and wife songwriting team of Tom and Tara Dunphy, the Rizdales are a hardcore honky tonk band from London, Ontario. Their sound, however, comes from deep in the heart of the American south. Heavily influenced by the classic country greats such as Ray Price, Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn, The Rizdales sing about love, loss and reality without ever taking themselves too seriously. They have released 5 critically acclaimed albums, were handpicked by the Queen of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson to be her Canadian backing band, and have played festivals, hole in the wall bars and concert halls from Ottawa to Austin, performing alongside such greats as Dale Watson, The Derailers, The Mavericks, and The Good Brothers, in earmarking their place in Canadian roots music history. Doors are at 4 pm and show time at 4:30. Don't miss out! This is a BYOB/potluck show which means terrific food to go with a late Summer afternoon of great music. Sounds like win-win to us.
