PRICE: $125. Ticket price does not include transportation. Participants are responsible for their own transportation.
A portion of the proceeds from each ticket purchased will go towards the Natural Areas Conservancy, a nonprofit partner of NYC Parks working to restore and conserve New York Citys nature. The Natural Areas Conservancy is also a supporter of the Greenbelt Native Plant Center, and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Seed Bank.

DESCRIPTION
This fall, learn about edible wild seeds and grains and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Greenbelt Native Plant Center (GNPC) and seed bank at a one-day workshop led by Tama Matsuoka Wong, author of Foraged Flavor, which was nominated for a James Beard award in 2013.
Beginning at 11 a.m., join Helen Forgione, senior ecologist for the Natural Areas Conservancy, on an optional tour of the beautiful nature within walking distance of GNPC. Youll learn to identify native and invasive species, and learn about our work to restore and conserve NYCs nature.
The workshop itself begins at noon with a presentation and tour of the seed bank led by Tama Matsuoka Wong, GNPCs director, Ed Toth, and supervising seed collector and field taxonomist, Heather Liljegren, followed by lunch prepared by Agern Restaurants Chef de Cuisine, Joe Yardley.
This event will be an exploration and celebration of the power, beauty and diversity of seeds. The centerpiece of many of the menus offered at Great Northern Food Hall and Agern, seeds are a critical natural resource and an invaluable tool for modern conservation efforts. Seed banks are the instrument through which these seeds are stored and made available for conservation of plant species in the native habitats where they have evolved. New York City is fortunate to be home to a working seed bank dedicated to the conservation of the flora of the City, the region and through partnerships, the United States as a whole.
This event is cohosted by the Natural Areas Conservancy, the Greenbelt Native Plant Center, Tama Matsuoka Wong, and the team behind Agern Restaurant and Great Northern Food Hall.

ABOUT THE FORAGER
Tama Matsuoka Wong lives with her husband and their three daughters on 28 acres of land in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
After more than 25 years as a financial-services lawyer in Tokyo, New York and Hong Kong, she and her family moved back to New Jersey. To help alleviate her daughters allergies, Tama wanted to start growing their own food. Gardening proved to be a challenge though, as invasive plants were taking over the land.
Tama was on a quest to eradicate the invasive plants until a house guest mentioned that the weeds were edible.
This inspired her to explore and research the world of native plants, which has grown into a passion for sourcing wild flavors for restaurants. Through her work, Tama connects experts in the fields of meadow restoration, botany, and wildlife with people in the community, and introduces a greater appreciation and understanding of the abundance and potential of plants that grow wild. CANCELLATION POLICY
- Registration for any and all tours is mandatory and binding at the time of ticket purchase.
- No refunds or credits will be issued for guest cancellations. Guest substitutions may be considered with advance notice to simone@meyersusa.com, within three (3) days prior to event date.
-We reserve the right to cancel any tour. Full refunds or credits will be provided for any tour we cancel.
-No walk-ins will be accepted.
- Signed waivers are required for all guests attending the tour. Guests under age 18, will require parental/guardian signature. All guests will receive waivers upon arrival at the tour location.
