Golden Girls LIVE A Drag Parody! "The Lost Salem Halloween Episode" Opens in Boston
Runaway Hit Show Golden Girls LIVE "Lost" Salem Halloween Episode premieres in Boston!
It's a loving PARODY tribute to your favorite sitcom senior citizens. Featuring everybody's favorite geriatric Mother/daughter duo - (the Mother with no Censor, and the Daughter a divorced substitute teacher), featuring the Minnesotan blonde ditz, and the sexy southern belle vixen who find themselves in some trouble in Salem. Yes Salem, Massachusetts! Dorothy brings her English class to Salem on a school field trip where she is teaching The Crucible to a group of her high school students. The rest of the girls: Blanche, Rose and Sophia arrange to take a vacation and surprise her there. Upon their arrival melee ensues. Picture it, Salem, 2016!
Once the lights dim, the infamous 'Thank You For Being A Friend' plays (accompanied by audience members singing along) & the actors make their way through the crowd, they receive a warm & welcoming ovation. Things get slightly 'Rocky Horror' at some points when a handful of audience members start reciting dialogue along with the cast, proving what a cultural icon the show was & still is.
Audience members are encouraged to come in costume, and prizes will be awarded for best individual and best group costume at every show.
Playing at Club Cafe in Boston at 209 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02116. Opens September 16, 2016 and runs through November 6, 2016.
This is the original cast from NYC celebrating their 14th year playing these amazing women. With over 1,000 performances under their belts there is a reason why Entertainment Weekly said this cast were "Breathing new life into an ageless sitcom". Further, Michael Musto of the Village Voice wrote in his review: "The Golden Girls LIVE! packs in rerun addicts who thrill to the faithful re-creation of the actual Golden Girls. The laugh out loud funny drag show presented as if it were on 'The Estrogen Network'- which is television for women and homosexuals'- is a riot!"
