Artists bios:
Johnny Azari was born in Shiraz, a city known for wine, poetry, opium, and revolution. At a year old, he was relocated to a city known as New York; noted for grit, madness, money, and proliferation, where he was raised. When Johnny isn't on tour, he lives in New Orleans writing and recording. These things have no influence on him whatsoever.
Johnny Azari (New Orleans ) plays his own mutant form of the Mississippi Delta-Blues. His live shows blend music with storytelling and comedy. Azari has been on national tour since 2013 and is recording his fourth LP, "Songs From A Motel Room," exclusively in motels during his 2016 tour. Azari has scored film (Illusions & Mirrors, starring Natalie Portman), served as guest lecturer and performer at Brown University and seen two of his videos, Occupation Blues and Freedom Glory Be Our Name gain viral success.
Arash Sobhani, an architect by training, Arash Sobhani is best known as the lead singer of KIOSK music band. Born and raised in Tehran, Sobhani moved to the U.S in 2005. He is currently the host of political satire program OnTen.
As an avid architectural photographer, he has held some exhibitions in Tehran, and has published articles and essays on the topics of architecture, politics and culture in various publications in Iran. Sobhani has also been a speaker/panelist on the topic of Iranian contemporary culture in universities such as Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley and The University of Maryland.
Arash Sobhani has published 5 albums with Kiosk, and has collaborated in various live performances and recordings with artists such as Mohammad Noori, Faramarz Aslani, Ardeshir Farah, Shidrokh Mohaghegh, Shahryar Masroor, Mohsen Namjoo, Susan Deyhim, Ramin Behna, Hooman Javid, Paul Mehling, Eric Stein and more.
