Salt presented by Lark & Whimsy Theatre Collective
A new Canadian play by Erin Vandenberg. Directed by Briana Brown.
Salt explores the impact of addiction and mental illness on the relationship between two teenage sisters and their alcoholic mother. When Lilias returns home after a year at school, she finds her mother Vivian even more fixated on Great-Aunt Rose -- a figure Lilias believes never existed -- and her sister Petal increasingly engrossed in a fantasy world made out of construction paper. Faced with an ever-deteriorating situation, Lilias struggles to chart a course that protects herself and Petal from Vivian's abuse. But is it really her or them? With rich theatricality, imagery and language, Salt immerses the audience in the experience of mental illness, asking how can one cope with unrelenting tragedy.
