Summer Sisters
Summer Sister 2016 present OF WOMEN AND WOLVES. This devised theatre performance looks at themes inspired by the feminist staple Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. This year The Sisters tackle the themes of educating, feral children, creative freedom, and the wildness within. Using text, music, dance and images, this experimental piece features local artists Drina Dunlap, Jessica Flemming, Amanda Hahn, Rachel Klem, Page Purgar, Dierdre Shipman, and Carissa White. The show was written by the cast with contributions from Stella Duffy, Sylvia Freeman, Barbette Hunter, Tamara Kissane, Carly Prentiss Jones, and Amy Sawyers.
SUMMER SISTERS Summer Sisters is a devised theatre group that consists of female theatre artists from the Triangle area. Guest director Carissa White steps in this year to assist veteran director Rachel Klem. The artists meet weekly, during the summer, to explore themes and images generated by a mother text.
2013 was Summer Sisters first year and focused on the graphic novel Tangles: A Story About Alzheimer's, My Mother, and Me. The theatre community embraced the Sisters work, and the production earned them Best Choreography in The Independent Weeklys Best of Triangle Theatre, 2013. In 2014, they produced MONSTER CAMP: An Exploration of Mary Shelleys Frankenstein, and Wonder Woman: Behind the Boots in 2015.
