Understanding Islam Today -- Prof. Stephen Lloyd-Moffett
Dr. Stephen Lloyd-Moffett is an internationally known Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies and will be presenting a five-week lecture series starting this fall entitled: Understanding Islam Today. The lecture series will be introduced by San Luis Obispo Mayor Jan Marx.
This series of lectures provides an opportunity to discover more about Islam and move beyond the headlines and sound-bites to seek answers to the troubling questions of our time. Included lectures:
-- The Historical Roots of Islam -- -- The Quran and the Worldview of Islam -- The Place of Violence and the Rise of ISIS -- Shari'ah Law and the Hope for Democracy -- Islam and Muslim Women
