Press Play Hump Days: May Day
Press Play hosts and produces a monthly show featuring some of the best comedy, music, and storytelling acts in the area!
Confirmed acts for our July 20 show include:
Gabriel Rojo performing standup
-- Gabriel Rojo began doing comedy in his 40's after becoming a father, working two decades as a social worker, and serving three years in the U.S. Army. Having immigrated to Washington D.C. at the age of five, Gabriel draws on his considerable life experience to tell ironic and comedic stories of what it was like going through the trials and tribulations of growing up and aging.
Couch Money performing improv
-- Couch Money: Hair from your roommates dog. Candy wrappers. A wallet-sized picture of your ex. You might find all sorts of things in your couch, but only one wont make you recoil and shove it back under the cushions: couch money. Come find Couch Money and let these improvisers make your day with their contagious energy, playful games, and bold character play.
Tone as musical guest
-- Tone is an Artist, Songwriter, Activist, Washington DC Native, and Hip hop Caucus spoken person. Make sure you stay on the look out for his New Project and Book coming this summer 2016. Thisistone.com Instagram:aye_tone Meredith Whipple as storyteller
-- Meredith fights for Internet freedom by day, and performs as an improviser, storytelling, and steel band musician by night." Press Play is self-conscious talking about itself in the third person, but is an adult and understands how bios work. Press Play was founded in 2010 and, not to brag or anything, has yet to have a show with a fart joke. Seriously. That's how committed Press Play is to the craft of longform improv. The group performs in festivals around the country, theaters around DC, and once at a birthday party.
