Burlesque Therapy!

The purpose of this class is to teach people to understand their emotional selves on a biological, psychological, and spiritual level, with a focus on sensuality as a modality to personal and emotional empowerment. Skills taught in this class are meant to expand emotional and social comfort zones.

The first part of the class is an entertaining presentation discussing contemporary ideas about emotional science, from neuroscience and evolution to philosophy, anthropology, and linguistics. In order to understand our own emotional lives, it's important to understand why we have these pesky feelings in the first place.

The second part of the class focuses on sensual movement, and how we carry our bodies in relation to how we feel about ourselves. Included will be two guided meditations, quick, simple ways to ground your emotions, tips for recognizing and dissolving unhelpful thoughts, a guide to optimal sexuality, and, finally, a burlesque movement and seduction workshop.

Elmo Painter is an Emotional Wellness Coach, Certified Reiki Master, Writer, Sensual Educator, and Love Enthusiast residing in Chicago, IL. She is currently in the Counseling Psychology Masters program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and the Somatic Experiencing trauma healing certification program through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute, and frequently presents on topics such as Queer and Trans awareness, BDSM Education, Emotional Awareness, and Spirituality. Her role in this life is to be a Muse, an emotional healer, and an implement of whimsical awakening.

Cost: $40-60 sliding scale (no one turned away for lack of funds)
