Laugh-a-Cuse Finale

Local comedian Anna Phillips presents Laugh-a-Cuse, a three day comedy event with the first two days holding smaller showcases that feature local and amateur comedians from all over upstate NY. The third day, August 18, culminates in the Laugh-a-Cuse Finale show at Jazz Central. Moody McCarthy and Jessimae Peluso, both natives of Syracuse, return for one night to co-headline. An amateur comedian will be chosen from each preceding showcase to open for the returning pro comics. Part of the proceeds will be donated to SyracuseFirst http://www.syracusefirst.org/

After appearances on Last Comic Standing and Jimmy Kimmel Live, Moody McCarthy is no longer a well-kept secret. With sharp, versatile material and an old-school ethic, Moody has performed all over North America and Asia and left them wanting more. Moody began his career in Syracuse, NY, and quickly established himself as a keen monologist. Now based in New York City, he's become a regular in the town's best rooms and grown into an act that thrives in any setting, from upscale country clubs to divey pubs.

Syracuse's own Jessimae Peluso (NBC, The Tyra Banks Show, The Huffington Post) returns from New York City with her high-energy, raw, straight-forward comedy. Peluso, a graduate of Henniger High School, was a finalist at the Boston Comedy Festival, the Women In Comedy Festival (WICF), New York City's 'Funniest Comedian Contest,' was featured on the 5 Funny Females Tour, and recently headlined at Carolines on Broadway in NYC.

Just added to the show is special guest John Moses. John Moses got his start delightfully offending audiences in his native Toronto at the infamous Yuk Yuk's Superclub. Before long his stylecombining raw, edgy humor with topical observations that mix race, politics and pop culturemade him a well-known name on the regional circuit.
