Bach's Lunch 'n' Listen 2016-2017 Season
Newton-Conover Auditorium is home to the popular lunchtime concert series, Bach's Lunch 'n' Listen. Tickets are $15, which includes lunch, performance, and one glass of wine. These performances are known to sell out so book your tickets well in advance. Tickets go on sale beginning August 1st!
We have also added a Season Ticket option available until August 19th. For $120 (roughly $12/concert), you can see many amazing performers while enjoying a delicious meal!
Members may purchase tickets through the Newton-Conover Auditorium office.
August 19: John David Welch, tenor, & Gregory Knight, piano New executive director, John David Welch, fresh from his operatic studies at the Manhattan School of Music, will present a concert of Italian art songs, French opera arias, German lieder, spirituals, and showtunes. John David will be accompanied by the incredible pianist, Gregory Knight, who recently placed in the top 6 of the Van Cliburn Competition as well as taking home the Creative Programming award.
September 16: Early Music & Dance Program, NC School of the Arts Allen Berryhill of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts will be bringing the best singers and dancers from the prestigious UNCSA to present a program of music from the Elizabethan era. This will be both historically and artistically inspiring!
October 21: Roman Placzek, cello Dr. Placzek, a renowned cellist and Artistic Director of the North Carolina Bach Festival, will be presenting a program of works by Bach and his contemporaries.
November 18: Pivetta Duo The award-winning Pivetta Duo is a North Carolina based husband and wife duo dedicated to involving audiences of all ages with their energetic and imaginative programming. Standing ovations across the United States reflect the public's enthusiasm for the Pivetta Duo. Extreme versatility, diversity and accomplishment from classical to jazz, this flute and piano duo will deliver the sounds of magical music!
December 16: North Carolina Harp Ensemble & John Wepner, piano Local favorite, Grace Wepner-Ludtke, and friends will be presenting a program of your favorite holiday tunes performed on harp. This is been a favorite of our patrons since Bachs Lunch conception. There will be pre-performance music by John Wepner, pianist.
January 20: NewArt Staff The Newton-Conover Auditorium is proud to be the home of the Newart School. Our amazing teachers will be presenting a program of their favorite pieces. After years of teaching and performing these works, they always provide an amazing performance.
February 17: John Coffey, piano Hickory-based professional pianist, John Coffey, will be presenting a concert of his favorite pieces of the Romantic era as a late Valentines celebration. Mr. Coffey is one of the most sought after pianists in the Southeast and always delights audiences.
March 17: Belles on Strings This string trio features Ann Borden on Celtic harp, Jennifer Lane on fiddle, and Tracey Maxwell on cello, and will be presenting a concert blending Celtic, jazz, and classical styles.
April 21: Grace Wepner-Ludtke, harp, & John Wepner, piano Grace will be returning to perform a concert of her favorite harp pieces, true standards of the classical repertoire. Preceded and accompanied by her brother, John Wepner.
May 19: Frank Merritt, horn Mr. Merritt is the principal hornist of the Western Piedmont Symphony and also plays with the Charlotte Philharmonic and Salisbury Symphony. He is an adjunct horn instructor at Lenoir-Rhyne College and performs with the renowned Unifour Brass. He will be performing a recital of standard horn repertoire.
