The Oakland Poetry Slam - Battle of the Bay (B.o.B.)

As you might know, before all of the Bay's Poetry Slam Teams head south to Charlotte NC to test themselves against the rest of the nation we have to test our mettle on our nearest neighbors. The Battle of The Bay series, or "BoBs" is where the Bay Area slam teams hone their edge by competing in "bouts" that mirror what they'll be seeing in August at Nationals. This year the Bay is sending different teams to the big dance as The Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco and San Jose slams have teamed up and formed the BayArea Unified squad. Added to the mix in Oakland's BoB is the rookie Pierced Ear Poetry team from Stockton and the always scrappy Santa Cruz squad. Rounding out the bout is the fabulous team from Youth Speaks SF, getting ready for their own Nationals (BNV) just a few weeks later right here in the Bay.

You owe it to yourself to come witness the poetic carnage these phenomenal word-smiths inflict on each other first hand. The Oakland BoB is a long standing tradition, now in it's 12th year.
