PRep!: Publicity from the grassroots
Spread the word with little or no budget. Build tools you can use for years. Plan a clear and effective campaign. Take control of your future!
Join us for an experience that will change your approach to marketing and publicity -- you'll see that spreading the word beyond existing friends and family is doable, affordable, and essential to all of your future projects. These are not quick fixes and fast answers that might change with tomorrow's technology: we'll help you start building long-term resources that will expand and evolve as you do, and we'll show you how to put them to work.
YOU'LL LEARN HOW TO 1) Build your mailing list, 2) Create a custom media list (i.e. the list of reporters, bloggers and calendars whose audiences you want to reach), 3) Format and write professional-looking press releases, 4) Create a clear marketing timeline, 5) Use these tools to meet deadlines, stay organized -- and delegate tasks!
By the end of the day, your tools will be well on their way, and you'll know both what your next steps are, and how to keep moving.
Classes are small, so we'll brainstorm about your specific project, using yours and your classmates' projects (or even imaginary projects) as examples, and help you set reachable and truly valuable goals.
This is an introductory workshop with meaty content: previous experience is not required, but if you've already done some PR work, there will be plenty to learn. This class is particularly good for small organizations, and we recommend that each org send at least two people, so they can better coordinate their future efforts and divide up the work. Wherever you are now, it's the next step into your future, so you can get organized and build a plan that will get butts in seats, attention drawn and funds raised.
ADDITIONAL OPTIONS In response to comments from our PRep! Alumni, we now offer the following add-on features, which can be selected or purchased at registration. ***PRep! Perks -- The world is always changing, and PRep! alumni will want to stay abreast of new resources and developments in DIY publicity. This option is free, but exclusive to workshop participants, and gets you articles, resources and news that will help you stay ahead of the game, plus discounts on future PRep! workshops and updated tools as available. You can opt-out anytime, of course.
***PRep! Deluxe -- we'll organize your materials in a heavy-duty binder, tabbed and ready to organize not only your handouts and materials, but the resources and campaign notes for future projects as you put PRep! concepts to good use. This tool will help you get the most of this invaluable workshop.
***Jumpstart consultation -- Don't let the workshop stand alone: Add a two-hour individual consultation when you register, and you'll get individual help in applying these principles for only $60 -- that's two hours for the price of one. Of course, we always offer consulting services -- but adding this now will help you apply what you've learned, to get you considerably further down the path to solid marketing. (Consultations must be scheduled sometime during the three months after your workshop is done.)
