Talks on Tyne: The King, the Giants and the man who walks forever - Max Adams
Newcastle Castle, in association with Tyne Bridge Publishing (Newcastle Libraries publishing arm), present Talks on Tyne, a series of six talks taking place 27 July 31 August in the Black Gate.
Max Adams talks about travelling and living in the landscape as a way of understanding the past. In his biography of King Oswald, the King in the North, he reconstructs journeys made by exiled princes and lords touring their domains in Anglo-Saxon England.
Max has now taken these themes into a new dimension in his contemporary novel the Ambulist, set in Newcastle and the hills and vales of Northumberland, in which an exiled foreigner finds he can read the ancient marks left by our prehistoric ancestors, but who sets in chain a series of dramatic and ultimately deadly events.
