Classroom Drama
Teacher/performers from Tellin Tales Theatre test their limits in Classroom Drama, running for two weekends July 22 through July 31, at Prop Thtr, 3502 N. Elston Ave. Three solo performers with and without disabilities Beth Ann Bryant-Richards, Tekki Lomnicki and Lily Beshare their hilarious stories straight from the smoky Teachers Lounge of their minds. Each night they will be joined by a different Substitute Teacher from Chicagos thriving Live Lit community ranging from an instructor in a womens prison to a Catholic elementary school teacher who imparts life lessons through Beatles songs. The Opening night performance/fundraiser on Friday, July 22 includes an After Party on stage with the cast and crew.
Lily Be, creator of The Stoop, explores unconventional teaching throughout her life in Born to Teach.
In her solo piece, We Don't Need No Education, Beth Ann Bryant-Richards teeters on the edge of insanity as she looks for a balance between common sense and book smarts.
You Damn Kids follows Tekki Lomnicki through her 105 journey through the levels of summer theater Hell wrangling kids with and without disabilities for the first time.
Substitute Teachers include Heather Schwartz, 7/22; Lindsay Porter, 7/23; Tori Rosin Szekeres, 7/24; Jill Howe, 7/29; Jack Murphy, 7/30 and James Gordon, 7/31.
