Downbeat the Ruler(originally called Downbeat International) was founded by Tony Screw, the sound known as Downbeat after getting permission from the legendary Sir Coxsone 'Downbeat' Dodd to use the name.Downbeat rapidly became not only a regional force, but one that could compete with the strongest sounds from Jamaica.
For almost two generations Downbeat Sound System has been known for some of the most memorable performance in the sound clash arena.Downbeat continues to headline some of Europe's greatest reggae festivals with appearances at The Rotom Reggae Sunsplash in Spain,America's Sierra Nevada World Music Festival and dance parties throughout the world of reggae.
The foundation father and owner Tony Screw continues to stay true to Jamaica's classics of the 70's and 80's.Tony's dub collection tells a trail of slaughter and leaves the fans amazed.
Sci Gideon is the longest active member with Downbeat Sound. He is the bridge between today's reggae and Jamaica's 80's chart toppers.
With the profound knowledge of reggae dancehall sound system, this crew delivers a set that captivates their audience, leaving them wanting more..
