Summer School Graphic Novel Beginning to End with Megan Kelso
This workshop is for comic artists and writers who are in the midst of a graphic novel project or who would like to begin one. As someone who has taken this journey from the small seed of an idea to a published, well-regarded book, Megan will share her own experiences and also guide students through drawing and writing exercises to help with organization and focus during the long and sometimes confusing process of working on a graphic novel. One of the most difficult things is keeping your eye on the entire shape of the book while at the same time, drilling down into the specific moments and details that make a story memorable. To this end, we will address outlines, mapping, plot mechanics and tips for when you get stuck. We will also discuss the industry side of making a graphic novel: agents, publishers and what to expect when youre ready to share your work with the world. All supplies provided.
