For CC15, Cellular Cinema welcomes guest artist and curator Tova Beck-Friedman, who programs a quarterly experimental documentary screening series at Anthology Film Archives in New York.
Short Experimental Documentaries is a program of film and videos of innovative and unconventional works. The program highlights pieces that stretch the definition of a documentary and introduces new possibilities. Those alternative approaches can be expressed through innovative story structure, imaginative visuals such as found footage, art work and /or photography, original use of sound, and other original framework.
While Annie Berman takes us on a visit to New York City's West Village, via Google's street view, William A. Brown captures the sum of all American desires as they descend an escalator in Las Vegas, and Todd Herman summarizes Life - from birth to death. Daniel Robin explores What's in a Name ? and Guli Silberstein's political piece portrays a dance between a young woman and a soldier in a Palestinian village. A poem video by Tova Beck-Friedman depicts an aging woman as her youngness slips away and a painterly piece by Ann Deborah Levy draws us in with arresting images of raindrops on a car window.
