CABARET, CAN-CAN & L'AMOUR ~ PARIS 1904 ~ ABOVE ALL ELSE A Love Story
CABARET, CAN-CAN & L'AMOUR Limited to 20 persons per show 5:30pm seating 7:45pm seating
THE EXPERIENCE CABARET, CAN-CAN & LAMOUR is a magical evening to remember; fine French cuisine, contemporary and vintage love songs, farcical magic, wild can-can dancing and a touching story. The show is an hour-long program enjoyed over a leisure one and half-hour dinner. This three-course dinner is paired with a bottle of wine for each couple to share. Vive Le PARIS 1904, vive L'Amour!
THE STORY Inspired by the 2001 love story movie, Moulin Rouge, it is 1904, Montmartre, Paris. It is a time between wars, when people where excited to discover extravagant dance halls that brought together a mix of riffraff and girls of easy virtue with the affluent and influential. It was in the Jardin de Paris that the famous cabaret became the temple of music, dance and artistic performance. And at this moment they are seeking a new musical dramatist and conducting auditions for a new act. Charles Zidler, the cabaret's manager believes he has found his theatre composer in a young American named Jerome Kern visiting from New York. Zidler has also found two new prospects for a new act, an English actress and an American dancer who is also the courtesan of a rich tycoon.
Madame Oller, the cabaret's choreographer and artistic director, is not easy to please and is not easily influenced by the politics of investors but by her audience; an audience that she has invited backstage to view the auditions and draw from them their desires.
Over two days of auditions of music, magic and dance performances the artists make new discoveries about their hidden feelings and ambitions. What is clear is that love is emotionally chaotic, blissfully oblivious and often unrequited.
