Going Furthur featuring John Welton Live
Get On the Bus as we experience first-hand the seeds sown by Ken and his crew, and how theyve inspired a new generation. Through never-before-seen archive footage, as well as over 300 hours of film shot over the course of three months, Going Furthur will explore the roots of a culture birthed in the early sixties, and how the mission of those first few idealists have influenced the counterculture of today. Inspired by Furthur as a beacon of true American freedom, this will be an on-the-ground account of the massive potential we have in this generation to be the change we wish to see in the world.
The cast and crew will be hosting film screenings on tour across the east coast in July 2016 with original Merry Prankster George Walker at the wheel. Each stop will featuring special Q&As following each film with the cast and crew, as well as have live entertainment planned for several of the events.
Fifty years after the iconic first Trip, Ken Keseys son Zane took Furthur-and his fathers legacy-back on the road for its longest running tour in history. Armed with a new band of Merry Pranksters, the Furthur bus traveled over 15,000 miles in 75 days, riding into music festivals, community events, tribal gatherings and national landmarks.
John Welton is always a crowd pleaser because he makes himself one with the crowd. The desire to create powerful, life- or even world-changing music is the driving force behind every song John has ever written. This includes both serious 'message' lyrics, and those songs that are written to make people smile or laugh in the moment. John's live performances always include impromptu comedic moments spurred by his close and caring attention to his audience. He includes his listeners in a fashion that just plain makes them feel good about themselves - - and about the world. His goal is to generate musical experiences that take the listeners on a journey through the "ocean of emotions" to arrive at their destination together feeling as though they have all received a dose of musical medicine.
John has performed with and opened for many exceptional musical acts including Waterband, The Recipe, Burning River Band, Willie Mac Music, Richie Havens, Blues Traveler, Big Brother & the Holding Co., the Jerry Garcia Band, Sam Bush, the David Grisman Quintet, Dark Star Orchestra, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Ekoostik Hookah, Keller Williams, Rusted Root, Todd Rundgren, Carlos Jones & the Plus Band, Little Feat, Boombox, Donna the Buffalo, Wookiefoot, Airto Moreira, Victor Wooten and many more.
