RENO, NV. Brüka Theatre presents 2 benefit performances of the original unromantic feel good dramedy written and by Gary Cremeans II and featuring Gary Cremeans II & David Simpson, New Canula. This short play was originally part of The Biggest Little Theatre Festival in November 2014, New Canula received rave reviews that inspired the playwright to continue to develop the production and submit to national Fringe Festivals. The play was accepted to both Hollywood in June and The New York International Fringe Festival in August. The group is now working on raising the funds to take the show on the road through a fundraising site (Go Fund Me) and benefit performances,
Think classic comedy, Reservoir Dogs without a reservoir, a dude play with a twist. Take J. Dubbs, a hapless unromantic with dreams of the afterlife being preferable to his present one; Marion "Bull" DesCarzo, a desperate bank robber with nebulous ties to the underworld; and throw in Grandma Betty, a framed photograph with limitless Jersey-style homespun wisdomisms...and you have an unclear and confusing sense of what New Canula is really all about.
New Canula just returned from The Hollywood Fringe Festival. Next up New Canula tours to the International New York Fringe Festival in August of 2016. This is the second original show to come out of Brüka Theatre and be accepted to the NY Fringe. New Canula was originally part of The Biggest Little Theatre Festival at Brüka Theatre in Reno, Nevada in November 2014.
