2016 BEC/COTE September Session Designing for Performance - Single Ply Roofing Lessons Learned over 40 Years

Designing for Performance is based on singly-ply roofing installation conditions that provide the best practice approaches to installations enhancements, including case studies and slides showing conditions and remedies. The presentation provides an overview of areas of single-ply roof systems design including but not limited to: Industry concerns, Metal Edging, Air Infiltration, Flashings, Membrane Securement, Insulation Adhesion, Membrane Adhesion, Insulation Options and Membrane Details
Speaker: Samir Ibrahim, AIA, CSI, FRCI Director, Design Services Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM)
Samir has been with CCM, a leading manufacturer of black and white single-ply membranes and PolyIso/EPS insulation, since 1980. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Alexandria, Egypt.
Samir is also the developer and coordinator of all Carlisle architectural and consultant training programs and holds a patent on an automated seaming device for thermoset applications. He has conducted several international design presentations and authored various papers concerning industry issues. In March 2016, due to his outstanding contribution to the Roofing Consultants Institute, Samir was awarded the title of Fellow of the Institute from the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI).
