Whidbey Island Music Festival Program III: The Golden Fleece
The Golden Fleece was a chivalric order of knights established by Philip III, Duke of Burgundy. The Austrian branch of this order included the Emperor Leopold, whose court in Vienna was a magnet for some of the greatest musicians and composers of the 17th century. This program focuses on music written for these powerful patrons by brilliant composers such as Biber, Schmelzer and Muffat. This program includes festive works for strings and 2 baroque trumpets.
