The Fall Banquet is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Master Gardener Foundation of Spokane County to benefit our Master Gardener Program. This year's banquet is Thursday, October 27, 2016 at The Lincoln Center, 1316 N Lincoln Street, Spokane. The evening includes a no-host bar, catered dinner, silent auction, raffles, and meet & greet book signing with this years keynote speaker, Dan Hinkley. Doors open at 4:00 pm. Dinner is at 6:00 followed by the keynote presentation at 7:00.
We are delighted to welcome Dan Hinkley: plantsman, author, lecturer and plant collector. Dan will present The Explorer's Garden: Plants from the Four Corners of the World". The presentation will include photography from Dans plant collecting trips around the world and will emphasize our global connectedness. Dans focus is on plants with vibrant foliage, those requiring less water in our landscapes and those offering months of ornamental value with a minimal amount of effort.
Hinkleys singular passion and dedication to international plant collection has resulted in numerous awards and citations from the worlds leading horticultural institutions. He is currently the only contemporary horticulturist to hold the Scott Gold Medal, the Liberty Hyde Bailey Medal of Honor and the Veitch Memorial Medal from the Royal Horticultural Society. His two most recent books, The Explorers Garden: Rare and Unusual Perennials as well as The Explorers Garden: Shrubs and Vines from Four Corners of the World have each been presented the Book of the Year award from the American Horticultural Society.
Dans engaging style will provide an entertaining and informative evening not to be missed. Purchase tickets early as we expect this event to sell out quickly.
