The Merchant of Venice
Directed by Paul Reisman
Journey with the fools back to the vibrant Renaissance city of Venice. A place full of rich characters, bustling marketplaces, music, food and fun! Young lovers steal away in the night, old enemies battle back and forth, and braggart Captains vie for the hand of a wealthy heiress, whose luck is running out!
Faction of Fools has a long history of re-examining Shakespeare's plays - finding comedic roots in the most famous of his tragedies, from the acclaimed A Commedia Romeo & Juliet to Hamlecchino: Clown Prince of Denmark. In 2014, Titus Andronicus was lauded as "sanguineous bliss" by the Washington Post, and DC Theater Scene said "it will be be difficult to imagine Titus being played straight ever again."
Don't miss this full production of one of Shakespeare's most rich and intricate plays that explores a burgeoning merchant class and what happens when things get personal.
