This first and most successful of the rock musicals, the story involves the plight of one hippie's personal generation gap with unsympathetic parents, and his choice to remain anti-establishment or follow a more traditional path. Winner of Tony Awards for Best Musical in 1969 and Best Revival of a Musical in 2009, the show features more songs than most musicals, some of them familiar top ten hits.
