Free Speaker Event: Shakespeare
Free Speaker Event: Robert N. Watson is Distinguished Professor of English at UCLA, and recently finished his terms as Associate Dean of Humanities and Neikirk Chair for Educational Innovation. He has published books on ambition in Shakespeare, parody in Ben Jonson, the fear of death in Renaissance culture, the Renaissance roots of environmentalism, and Kurosawas classic film, Throne of Blood. He has also edited several volumes of Jonsons plays, and his poetry has appeared in The New Yorker magazine and many other journals. He has won Guggenheim and National Endowment for the Humanities senior research fellowships, and UCLAs Distinguished Teaching and public service awards. Now he is working on books about the interplay of human and other life in Renaissance, and about the role of the arts and humanities in cultural evolution.
