Northwind Arts Center's Songwriters Showcase Presents: Hank Cramer
Hank Cramer, one of the Pacific Northwests favorite folksingers, will perform in concert at the Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend on Saturday evening, August 13 at 7:00 pm. Those who attend will be treated to a wide variety of acoustic music, from sea shanties to celtic ballads to Hanks original songs. Expect to sing along!

Hank has been a leader in the Northwest folk music scene for nearly thirty years.  In addition to his solo career, he has performed as a member of noted folk groups such as Victory At Sea, The Ferryboat Musicians, Constellations Crew, and The Rounders.  He is perhaps best known in maritime circles as the shantyman aboard the tall ship Lady Washington, and has often performed for Port Townsends Wooden Boat Festival.  Hank is also a leader in celtic and cowboy folk circles throughout North America.  He has performed at the Lunenburg Folk Harbour in Nova Scotia; the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada; the National Maritime Historic Park in San Francisco; and won first place in the vocalist competition at the Tucson Celtic Festival.  Humanities Washington, the cultural non-profit which supports the arts throughout our state, honored Hank with its annual performers award for 2011.

Hank Cramer just released his 21st album, titled Make The Rafters Ring.  He has  recorded sound-tracks for three PBS television documentaries, and several music videos. Sing Out! magazine described Hanks CD Songs of USS Constellation as the most beautiful and accomplished album of sea music weve ever heard.  Faith Petric, long-term leader of the San Francisco folk community, described his music this way: He made me laugh, and he made me cry.  And thats what good music is all about.    When not on the road performing, Hank lives on a ranch in the Methow Valley with his cowgirl wife Kit and their many critters.
