Suitable for all levels
In this workshop you will learn about:
Body positioning and how to make the most of your figure by holding yourself correctly.
The importance of polishing a dance move with the delicacy of hands and well positioned feet.
Learn to move fluidly across the space and to listen to the different qualities of the music.
Creating a tableau vivant.
Find your inner elegance through a series of games and technique exercises, and with the use of vintage reference materials such as old follies & burlesque pictures curated by Eliza as a source of inspiration for creating beautiful shapes and lines with the body. The workshop culminates in learning a simple routine which includes creating a posed group tableau.
Students will need to wear comfortable clothing such as leggings, t-shirts, leotards, shorts and bring comfortable low heeled shoes (no platform or stiletto shoes). Students should also bring a paperback book. .
ABOUT ELIZA
Eliza is a London based burlesque artist, with over 7 years industry experience and two awards under her belt (British Female Crown 2012 and International Crown 2014 - World Burlesque Games, London).
An enthusiast for all things golden era Hollywood, Eliza delights in creating acts which embody varying time periods and styles from 1920's art deco glam through to the vibrancy of the late 1950's/early 1960's. With a dedicated fascination for art, old vaudeville, MGM musicals, opulent architecture and couture fashion she meticulously constructs her acts with a view to transport her audience to a place of visual beauty and wonderment.
No stranger to travel, she has been performing regularly on the international circuit since early 2013, at respected events such as Voodoo Deluxe (Milan) Oh! La La! Cherie! (Zurich), Boheme Savage (Hamburg/Cologne) and Burlesque Hall of Fame, (Las Vegas) where she competed in the 56th Annual Tournament of Tease Best Debut category in 2013. She has also worked for high profile clients and agencies at corporate events both in the UK and overseas, and is experienced in discretion when working for private events and clients.
Voted one of the UK's top 20 Burlesque performers by 21st Century Burlesque in 2013, 2014 & 2015.
