Acoustics: How does sound travel and how do sound control membranes provide sound reduction?
This course explains sound abatement membranes as defined by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA), what the membranes will and wont do, and the types of movement joints where these membranes may be installed. The industry standards and testing requirements that determine the sound rating of a membrane and how this relates to building code requirements will be discussed.
IIC, STC and delta IIC ratings will be examined, in addition, an explanation of sound rated ceiling assemblies and how this affects the specification.
Attendees will also acquire knowledge about how to choose a sound control system and how the proper installation is critical to the success of the system.
