Dark, twisted, sexy, and raucously funny, Heathers: The Musical portrays what happens when high school drama takes an unexpected and bloody turn. CenterStage Theatre Company is excited to bring this cutting-edge contemporary musical to Boulder with a cast of talented actors, aged 15 to 23.
Westerberg High is ruled by a venomous trio of queen bees known as the Heathersand they have just welcomed the quirky outsider Veronica as the newest member of their ranks. But when Veronica rejects her coven in favor of the schools new bad boy, J.D., she quickly finds herself in over her head. As J.D. begins picking off the schools popular crowd one by one in a series of murders masked as suicides, its up to Veronica to choose between her boyfriend and her classmates.
Based on the 1989 cult-classic film of the same name, Heathers: The Musical features a fresh pop/rock score by the masterminds behind Legally Blonde: The Musical and Bat Boy. The controversial show pushes the envelope in every possible wayand in doing so, it comes close to mimicking various aspects of the actual high school experience (the good, the bad, and the ugly). Guaranteed to make audiences laugh and cringe in equal measure, Heathers: The Musical promises to be so very.
