THE HONEYDOGS with very special guests THE GROWNUP NOISE and THE VIOLET LIGHTS
Saturday 7/14 - THE HONEYDOGS and special guests THE GROWNUP NOISE THE VIOLET LIGHTS $10 advance and $12 at the door 8:30 doors / 9:00 show www.honeydogs.com www.thegrownupnoise.com www.thevioletlights.com
The Honeydogs: Hailing from one of the most prosperous independent music scenes in the U.S., The Honeydogs continue to make Minneapolis their home base but love to get out and bring their sweet brand of pop to all corners of the map. The band's history includes a nice stint with Mercury Records and more recently their indie seminal '10,000 Years' placed on Aimee Man and Michael Penn's United Musicians label. The band continues to tour and record some of lead singer Adam Levy's best stuff. Their most recent release, 'What Comes After' is out on Minneapolis based Grain Belt Records. And though this label has no relation to the Twin Cities' beer, this record proves just as smooth on a hot summer day, as does the band's live show.
The Grownup Noise: Since releasing their self-titled debut in 2007, Boston's The Grownup Noise have evolved into a rousing indie- pop outfit, bridging the gap between americana and indie, who've shared stages with everyone from comedian Patton Oswalt to fellow avant-baroque musicians like Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down(Kill Rock Stars), and acclaimed Canadian barnstormers Rock Plaza Central.
The Violet Lights: Los Angeles female/male duo The Violet Lights are turning many heads with their latest, 'Sex & Sound'. It's the kind of record that makes you reel your mind as far back as possible, thinking of the familiar power pop gems of yesteryear. You'll get comfortable with it quite quickly as you will when you see them live. This could easily become your new favorite band.
