Strange Country
New Light Theater Project and Access Theater will present STRANGE COUNTRY by award-winning playwrights Anne Adams. Winner of the New Light New Voices award, it will be directed by Jay Stull (Utility, Rantoul and Die). Previews begin July 21st at Access Theater with opening slated for July 24.
4th of July weekend. Bell County, Texas. Tiffany has been there for brother Darryl every step of the way since his release from the psych ward. But when she brings girlfriend Jamie home for the weekend, Tiffany finds herself in a fight she didnt see coming. With the fireworks of family, pride and independence at stake, Strange Country plunges into the thick of the Texas heat as to how far we are willing to go to win.
The cast includes Sidney Williams, Vanessa Vache, and Bethany Geraghty.

JAY STULL (Director) is a director and playwright. Recent New York directing credits include Utility by Emily Schwend (The Amoralists at The Rattlestick, NY Times Critics Pick), Take Me Back by Emily Schwend (Walkerspace, NY Times Critics Pick) As Far As The Day Goes by Jenny Schwartz (Clubbed Thumb, workshop production), Omega Kids by Noah Mease (Dixon Place), Leave Me Green by Lisi DeHaas (Gym at Judson), and Enter at Forest Lawn and Rantoul and Die by Mark Roberts (The Amoralists). His written and directing work has been seen at or developed by LAByrinth, Ars Nova, the Bloomington Playwrights Project, The Flea, Dixon Place, Fresh Ground Pepper, the Lark Play Development Center, Ugly Rhino, The Culture Project, and Joes Pub. He was a Directing Fellow with Clubbed Thumb and a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab and The Civilians R&D Group. He is an alumnus of Fresh Ground Peppers Playground Play Group, Pataphysics at The Flea, and Bowdoin College.
ANNE ADAMS is a native Texan, a loyal Chicagoan, and currently, an optimistic Londoner. After immersing herself in the Chicago theatre scene as an actor, director, and teacher for over seven years, she moved to London, where she finally decided to court her first love writing for the stage and screen. Strange Country is her writing debut and is the recipient NLTP's inaugural "New Light New Voices" award.
