We all know how much children love to play, whether it is make-believe, or just being silly. Though we most often associate play with fun and games, for children, play is an important part of development. In this talk, we will discuss the importance and power of play in a childs development and how children use play to build fundamental language, reasoning, and social skills. We will talk about the ways children play, how those change during childhood, and how it helps children learn. Amelia Bachleda is an Outreach and Education Specialist with University of Washington I-LABS (Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences).
