Lecture Series: Geographies of Wonder
August 18, 25, and September 1 (Thursdays) 10 a.m.- Noon
Join curator Peter Blodgett for this three-part lecture series which will explore some of the major themes of the exhibition Geographies of Wonder: Origin Stories of America's National Parks, 1872-1933, including the roots of American fascination with scenic wonders, the motives that inspired creation of the first national parks, and the evolution of the national park idea that led to creation of the National Park Service in 1916. Discussion of these topics will include visits to the West Room of the Library Exhibit Hall where Geographies of Wonder will be on display.
