Botanical Watercolors: Painting Summer's Bounty
Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21
9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

Receive watercolor instruction on painting form, patterns, textures, and vibrant colors found in an array of seasonal fruits.  Botanical artist Lisa Pompelli will provide lessons appropriate to all skill levels.  Subjects provided by instructor will include but not be limited to pears, cherries, citrus, peaches along with their foliage.  

A material fee of $5.00 is payable to the instructor on the first day of class.  

Prior drawing experience is recommended.

Class supply list is below.


Please bring the following items each day of class.

Please bring to the first class the following items.
1 HB & 1 3H pencil
Magic Rub eraser
Kneaded eraser
Strathmore Drawing pad (no smaller than 11 x 14)
sheet of Fabriano Artistico Hot Press WC paper 140lb.
2 plastic palettes (preferably the approx. 10 x 13 palettes with squares and circles and a  lid)
Porcelain palettes are also fine to purchase
Small water container.
Tracing paper
White artist tape
Kleenex tissue for blotting
Scissors
Ruler
Small Desk Lamp w/adjustable arm and incandescent lightbulb.  Please do not bring type with clamps as the base.  Please do not forget to bring a lamp!

Paint brands  - either Windsor Newton, Daniel Smith, Daler Rowney or Aquarelle.  Please avoid student grade paints.
French Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean Blue
Windsor Blue (green shade)
Cadmium Yellow pale
Gamboge
Cadmium Orange
Alizarin Crimson Permanent
Quinacridone Magenta  preferably by Daniel Smith
Quinacridone Red
Cadmium  Red Deep
Permanent Rose
Windsor Violet

Brushes  Windsor Newton Cotman or da Vinci Cosmotop are reliable brands.    Please transport your brushes carefully in order to protect their delicate tips.  This may be your most important purchase so please bring good brushes.  

Watercolor paintbrushes round tips: two #1,  two  #2,  two #3,  two #4

Optional extra brushes  Isabey Kolinsky Re-Touch Spotter brushes #2, #4, #5  (can be purchased at some art supply stores or online at: http://italianartstore.com/store/Isabey_Kolinsky_ReTouch_Spotter.html

Optional  roll of Saral graphite paper for transferring your drawing on to wc paper.

*** If you want to paint a particular fruit or vegetable please bring it to class.  Instrutor will be providing various specimens for students.
