Portraits in Watercolor Series
Thursdays, August 4- September 22 9 a.m.- Noon
Join artist Robert Sherrill for this 8 part series on creating portraits in watercolor. Students will learn the fundamental procedures on how to paint the human head, as well as tips and methods on portraying the personality of an individual. Proportion and Anatomy are studied along with character and color. Watercolor techniques, such as Dry brush and Glazing are experimented with to give students more exercise in style. Students will be working from photographs of their choice.
Class will be held in the Roger Classroom in the Banta Education Court.
A supply list is below. Please bring to each day of class.
Watercolor Paint: Windsor Newton or any quality brand name paint Cadmuim Red Medium, Magenta, Lemon yellow, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Ultramarine Blue, Cerelean Blue. White Gouache.
Also, bring any other colors you like.
Palette: A nice big plastic palette is fine
Brushes: Red Sable, Kolinsky Sable or Synthetic Sable are fine 1- 3/4" Flat wash brush, 1- #10 Round, 1- #4 Round
Paper: Arches 140 cold press
Tape: Masking tape
Water bucket: Clear plastic container for water. I use the cheap ones from 99 cent store. ...Like rubbermaid. Bring 2 or 3.
Paper towels.
Photos of people you would like to paint.
