Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit for Job Seekers with Disabilities 2016
Do you have a disability?  Do you have a difficult time finding employment? The 5th Shoreline Community College hosted Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit is designed to help job-seekers with disabilities navigate the road to employment.

This free morning event for job-seekers is funded through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, as part of a partnership with the Northshore/Shoreline Community Network, Shoreline Community College, Quick-Start Shoreline, City of Shoreline and the Shoreline School District.

The Summit will be in the 9000 Pagoda Union Building at Shoreline Community College, 16101 Greenwood Ave. N., Shoreline, WA 98133.

The "Overcoming Barriers to Employment Summit" will offer opportunities to connect with community resources and attend workshops on:

- How DVR can help you find a Job
- Job Search on the Internet
- Interview Preparation
- Secrets to a Successful Interview
- Supported Employment
- Accommodations in the Work Place
- Dos and Don'ts on the Job
- Is College Right for Me?
- Assistive Technology in the Workplace


The keynote speaker, Todd Stabelfeldt, will open the day's activities at 9:00 a.m. Todd knows first-hand about facing and overcoming barriers. At the age of eight, Todd Stabelfeldt became a C4 quadriplegic following an accidental gun shot injury. He is a native of Washington State and has worked on a local and global level to merge technology and accessibility together to bring new independence for persons with disabilities.


Pre-registration is required. Free parking is available in designated parking on a first come first serve basis.
Free light refreshments/snacks offered.

Special accommodations, including interpreters, are available on request.  Please place accommodation requests by August 15th, 2016 by calling 206-546-4545, or emailing ssd@shoreline.edu.
